President Mnangagwa said that the mining industry is the pillar industry of Zimbabwe and will perform very well in 2021, which is also a boost to Zimbabwe's high economic growth. He hoped that those in the mining industry could make persistent efforts to achieve the goal of "mining output value of us $12 billion by 2023". President Mnangagwa and Minister Chitando jointly presented the MEDALS and trophies.
Minister Chitando said: Zimbabwe's mining industry output almost doubled from us $2.7 billion in 2017 to US $5.3 billion in 2021, and the mining sector is fully confident of achieving US $8 billion in 2022 and increasing to US $12 billion in 2023.
